Our Registered Veterinary Technicians
Melissa Martin is an Indiana University Graduate and married Tom Martin in 1984 (go big red). She started part-time at FWPH in 1986 and went full time in 1990.
Melissa feels blessed to enjoy and be a part of all the wonderful families in our practice. She misses being at the desk all the time but loves her new office space! As a the mother of 3 and married to Tom Martin (oldest son of Dr. Lynn Martin and the older brother of Dr. Marcus), she loves being a part of the family business! Her hobbies include reading, crafting, service, being a leader for the St. Vincent's American Heritage Girls, ST Vincent's Venture Crew 2802 & Troop 2, helping 4-H when needed. She tries to be outside as much as possible!
Julie Young has been working at Fort Wayne Pet Hospital since 1976. She married Dr. Lynn's cousin, Randy Young in 1984 and left the practice later that year when she was pregnant with her first child.
She returned in 1998 to our staff. She works part-time answering your incoming phone calls now.
She is the mother of two girls, Ann and Maree. Ann had made her a proud Grandma this year! Julie enjoys traveling regularly with friends and family. She also enjoys spending time with her grandchild, granddogs, grandcats, and her own DLH cat, Teddy.
Sharon joined our staff in 2016 and cheerfuly assists you when you arrive and check out. Sharon and Keith are the proud parents of two children and both grew up in Fort Wayne. You can find her with family and friends at the lake whenever possible. Sharon and Angie both have a hobby of trying interesting new beer flavors.
Keighlea Martin is the eldest of Melissa and Tom Martin's 3 children. She is a graduate of Bishop Dwenger High School and has achieved a Photography, Journalism, & Video, Liberal Arts degree at Columbia College in Chicago.
She began working in the kennel room in high school and has worked with us full time after graduation. You will see Keighlea at the front desk to help you get what you need. She free-lances in her field, pet sits, and works as a nanny.
She was actively involved in 4H earning several awards for her woodworking and for poultry. She won Silver Key for her Photography work. Keighlea was active in Girl Scouts and earned her Gold Award.
Cassie Edwards R.V.T., is our lead registered veterinary technician. She received her bachelors degree in Veterinary Technology from Purdue University in 2014. Prior to joining our staff as a technician, she was a veterinary assistant during high school while she attended Carroll.
Cassie enjoys her literal farm of animals at home. She has dwarf goats, chickens, a mischievous cat, a loving Cocker Spaniel, a second baby cocker spaniel, and two little turtles. She maintains a strong presence in the Allen County 4-H fair's poultry and goat projects.
In her free time she loves all things Purdue, hanging out with friends, fine wine, and being outdoors.
Our Veterinary Assistants
Sam Landrigan R.V.T., graduated from Whitko High School in 2010. She attended Purdue University and earned her Bachelor degree as a Veterinary Technician in 2014. She has been with us here at FWPH as a full time RVT since mid 2016. She is active with her local 4-H club and was a 10 year member herself. She is married to her husband Tim, and they recently just had a new baby girl! She enjoys spending time with family and friends, and being outdoors. She has 2 dogs (Magnum and Lacey), many barn kitties, 1 donkey (Alfred), cows, 2 ducks, and chickens!
Kathy Payonk is Dr. Lynn's oldest child and began working here as a teenager. After marrying her husband, Robert Payonk, and having her three children, she returned to the practice in 1996 working as a Veterinary Assistant. Starting in January 2017, Kathy moved positions. She manages inventory ordering, and spends all our open hours working on the phones and managing lab results. She is enjoying her new position!
She graduated from Purdue University, Fort Wayne in 1987 with an associates degree in nursing. She assists the doctors in the room and helps answer our incoming phone calls.
Kathy is the mother of 3 active children, all of which have been or are currently employed at Fort Wayne Pet Hospital. Her hobbies include reading, antiquing, researching geneology, relaxing at the lake, & going to sport activities with her children. Kathy is a big fan of the Yorky breed.
Audrey (Hess) Ryan started working with us as a student intern from Carroll High School in 2006. After her internship, she decided that her passion was working with animals. Audrey began working as a veterinary assistant full time at Fort Wayne Pet Hospital after her high school graduation in 2007.
In her free time, Audrey enjoys running, swimming, soccer, and has completed a triathalon. She has three cats, Hazel and Mia, and a Labrador mix, Corbin. She is married to her long time friend, Andy Ryan. They have 1 daughter and one on the way!
Aaron is the youngest child of Kathy. He has worked at Fort Wayne Pet Hospital in the kennel room since his freshman year of high school. He has also assists on Tuesdays with surgical prep and recovery.
He is a graduate of Carroll High School, and is currently studying at IPFW. He was actively involved in 4H and St. Vincent Boy Scouts. He was the second of Dr. Lynn's grandsons to earn his eagle award (2011.) Aaron enjoys motocross and riding motorcycles in his free time. Arron loves German Shepherds and loves spending time with his Sheherd, Rado.
Rylie Allen graduated from Carroll High School in 2013. She then enrolled in the Veterinary Technician program at IBC in Fort Wayne where she earned her Associates degree in 2017. She started at FWPH in 2016 as an intern and was hired on full time in January 2017. She enjoys being socializing with family and friends, reading a good book, and taking long runs (while trying to keep up with her boxer (Mya) and Husky (Blitz) and her new puppy Nyke!
Meet Bayley: She is a Concordia HS Class of 2019 student and has been with us as a volunteer for many years. Last year she also joined us as an employee where she cares for pets that are kenneling, assists with rooms, and helps in the pharmacy. Bayley is passionate about animals and is working towards being a Purdue trained Veterinarian. She was an attendee at the Boiler Vet Camp in 2017. Her hobbies include sports, the great outdoors, playing with her 2 German Shepherds (Cree and Kaiya), helping on the family farm, and showing her beef calves and pigs in 4-H. Last year Bayley won the top 4-H title for all her hard work, 2016 Dairy Beef Senior Showmanship recipient.
